Estimates from the app's own sizes: about 0.2 KB a message, 60 KB a squeezed photo, 50 KB per minute of voice message, and Data saver calls capped at 20 KB/s. Real calls often use less. In a test call we measured 4.9 KB/s.

Is WhisperLite really free?
Yes. Messages and calls are free and unlimited. Premium is optional, and all Premium features are free for everyone while we test.
Why does it use so little data?
Messages are tiny (about 0.2 KB), photos are squeezed to about 60 KB and only download when you tap them, and calls can be capped with Data saver.
Do I need a phone number?
No. You only need a name. Your account lives on your phone, protected by a PIN.
Can WhisperLite read my messages?
No. They're locked on your phone before they're sent. Our server only passes on scrambled data and deletes it after 30 days.
Does it work on iPhone?
The iPhone app is coming soon. Until then, open WhisperLite in Safari and add it to your Home Screen.
